Project Detail
Project: Reconstruct Forest Supervisor's Office After evaluating Marathon's performance on two previous projects for the US Forest Service (the Idyllwild Ranger Station and the Cranston Fire Station) the Forest Service awarded Marathon a design-build contract to perform a complete tenant improvement of their newly acquired future Supervisor Administration Building in San Bernardino. This 60,000 SF building was transferred to the Forest Service from the Air Force during the military base closure operations. The entire building was improved for the new owner, except for some of the exterior walls and glazing. The work included: a new front entrance, carpeting and hard flooring, office space for 200+ new modular work stations, 32 new framed private offices and meeting rooms, new cabinetry, new wiring for the IT system (twin CAT7 to each work station or office), replacement of the majority of the interior wiring, new suspended ceiling, new lighting fixtures, HVAC control upgrade, new HVAC routing, interior and exterior painting, restroom facilities upgrades to meet current codes, a new central 20 station fire control center, security fencing, automatic gates, security video cameras, and a new auxiliary 100% duty generator with automatic switch over. All work, from the first chalk board designs to move-in, was accomplished in nine months. This design-build project required a close working relationship between Marathon and the Forest Service engineering staff, and resulted in the contract being left open for an additional 2+ years to perform further improvements on the building.
